3 Tips to Prepare Your Home to Sell this Fall

1. Inspect and repair the exterior. Believe it or not, the exterior of a home is what buyers will see first! It’s important to have good curb appeal to not only appeal to buyers browsing online, but also to those who drive by. Clean gutters and downspouts, rake leaves, trim trees, prune shrubs and check your roof and shingles. It’s also a great time to shut off exterior water faucets, store away any hoses and add weatherstripping around windows and doors to prepare for cooler weather. You may also notice some spots around the home that could be touched up with paint.

2.Clean up and inspect the interior. Whether you’re selling or not, it’s always a good idea to test and change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. You should also schedule a chimney cleaning and heating system maintenance along with ensuring your fireplace (if you have one) is in good working condition. Deep-cleaning the kitchen and cleaning dryer vents are also important.

3. Add Autumn touches. This is the fun part! Appeal to Fall buyers by adding decor that can help them envision your home as theirs. Plant fall florals like mums and set pumpkins and squashes near your entryway. Just steer clear of any Halloween decor or cheap-looking decorations. Stick with the natural and don’t go overboard! A little goes a long way.
