Why Live in Denver?

Are you thinking of making the move to Denver? With the huge influx of new residents, it’s evident that Denver is a desirable place to live. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in the United States as a result of its high quality of living. Known as the “Mile High City” due to its elevation of 5,280 feet, Denver is centrally located on the banks of the South Platte River with a beautiful backdrop of the foothills. With an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy year round and a vibrant arts and culture scene, Denver is a great place to live for people of all ages.

History of Denver:

Denver went from being a little town in the middle of nowhere to a city that attracts visitors from all over the country. Before being settled in 1858 by gold miners, the area was home to the Arapaho tribe where teepees, huts and log cabins were the only structures around. As more and more miners moved in, Denver became a rough Wild West place with saloons on every corner. Denver could’ve died out like so many other Colorado towns (there are 500 ghost towns in the state), but it persevered. After the gold mining industry became less profitable, the city began to rely on agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and the service industries. The state capital grew quickly, transforming from a rural area into a sprawling metropolis.

What Is It Like To Live In Denver :

One of the most appealing things about Denver is that it’s located just a short drive from the foothills and less than an hour from the majestic Rocky Mountains, the continent’s largest mountain range. With its consistently blue skies and broad mountain views, Denver is a city that offers something for everyone. Its beauty has inspired a myriad of different authors, musicians, and pop culture icons.

With 300 days of sun a year and convenient access to the mountains, it is easy to see why this American city is so appealing. However, Denver offers more than just stunning natural beauty. Take a stroll through Downtown and you’ll find a variety of cuisines and a plethora of craft breweries. Music lovers will revel in Denver’s local music scene, whether it be at impressive music venues like Red Rocks Amphitheater and Mission Ballroom or smaller venues like Larimer Lounge and the Ogden Theater. Enjoy impressive shows at various theaters put on by The Denver Center of Performing Arts (DCPA) throughout the year and take pleasure in viewing art exhibits at the Denver Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver or the Clyfford Still Museum. The immersive art experience, Meow Wolf, has also found a home in Denver and attracted tourists from all over. While Denver experiences heavy tourism in the Winter for skiing and snowboarding, the summer atmosphere is equally impressive. With average highs in the 80s and free festivals happening weekly, there’s a ton of indoor and outdoor activities to keep you busy year-round. Sports lovers will also enjoy Denver, as it is home to the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche, Rapids and Mammoths. Mile High Stadium, Coors Field and Ball

Arena are all centrally and conveniently located making it easy to attend a game and enjoy a meal or drinks afterward. Denver’s transit system allows residents and visitors to easily commute throughout the metro area, whether it be to work, the airport or football games.

Living here, you can expect the weather to be quite unpredictable. Winters can be both mild and harsh. You’ll experience 50 degree days in December, or single-digit temperatures! While Colorado is known for its snowy slopes, Denver doesn’t receive nearly as much. When it does snow, sunny skies will quickly melt it. Colorado has a dry climate so expect temperatures to drop as soon as the sun goes down. Be sure to load up on moisturizer, your skin will thank you!

Denver’s Housing Market

Due to the huge influx of people looking to call Denver home, its housing market has become extremely hot. With little inventory (because who wants to move out of such an amazing city?) and strong demand, prices have been increasing over the last several years. Buying a single

family home seems to be the most competitive, as many people here desire a backyard and privacy. Luckily there has been an increase in developers building new home communities and duplexes and townhomes to level the playing field a bit. While buying in Denver may be more difficult than other major cities across the country, the reward is worth every penny. This is why having a reputable realtor who knows Denver’s market and neighborhoods is crucial. You need someone on your side willing to fight and negotiate to get you the best deal so that you can spend your next life chapter in the amazing metropolis that is Denver, Colorado!
